Another example of why we MUST get some sort of background check system in place NOW.

What a horrible story.  His mechanics on the court were horrible also.  Quick someone check the UIL database and see if he is a UIL registered official.

Bring on the background checks I will gladly pay for mine.  At the school where my children attend, where every teacher knows my name, and what kind of car I drive.  I still have to submit to a check if I want to volunteer each and every year. We should demand this as soon as possible.

Just wondering if the past TASO President Ray Parker might have recruited this guy. You know these kind of people kind of run in the same paths. But now they are probably in the same jail cell. How ironic!!

Of course, I watched the video and its one of the major agenda items of the UIL. Our children deserve to have these background checks immediately to prevent the individual that you are showcasing on this thread from ever being around our children and individuals such as our past TASO Football President Ray Parker who was removed from office for similar lewd acts.

For those of you who don't remember these horrific acts of the past TASO Football President please see the link below

"Horrific acts" ?!?!?!?!  Do you even know what he actually did?

The latest guy is a UIL official now.  UIL controls basketball.  Why haven't they already implemented this "agenda item"?

Back ground checks are fine with me. Should be manditory. I think the only resistment i have heard is who pays for it the official, taso or the uil. How much does a back ground check cost?

It is free to check the registered sex offender database.  The UIL has failed the kids already by not checking the status of the officials for which they control.

Depends if you are doing a fingerprint-based check or a simple name check.   For the fingerprint check I believe it is 9.95 to have your prints taken and 42.25 to have them run.  If it is just a name check, that costs $1.

A subscription to Public Data.com would be pretty cheap. However there is lag time on getting information onto the site and it is a name only check.   Supposedly Timmons had a place to do them for about $5 bucks but at that price it would have to be name and DOB only.  However, either would be better than nothing.

The sex offender registry is notoriously not updated in a timely fashion

I clicked on the link and all I saw was a high school football player in San Antonio not being made to cover his knees with his knee pads.  What did I miss that is subborning so much righteous indignation?

Raise my expenses...raise my compensation!  I'll gladly pay $50 a year extra for a fingerprint check, mouth swab, toe jam test...whatever they want.  Just don't ask me to eat this new expense.  It's not for me...it's for someone else.  They should pay.  This Judson ISD talking head sounds as if he'd be willing to pay a lot for the assurance that he not have to go in front of the camera ever again for this type of situation!  I agree...he shouldn't need or want to...and his ISD should be willing to pay for that assurance!

The ISDs already have the ability and system ti do a simple name check.I believe they are allowed to do them for free but if not it is less than 3 bucks a name.  Maybe the chapters could work with local ISDs and give ea a portion of their roster to check.

My ISD swipes my Driver License when I go visit my daughter.  I guess that is what they are scanning for but I've never asked.

I saw another example of UIL not doing their homework last night.  Not for any sex crimes or anything like that, but we had a football official who was not allowed to officiate due to a situation that was on his record that he did not disclose.  Well, apparently the UIL didn't know about it as TASO did because he was out officiating a UIL basketball game last night.  It's funny how TASO can catch these things and prevent them from going out on the field, but the UIL just lets them work without doing any kind of investigation.
