After this week for those of us that just do High School Football...What are you gonna do for the next 8 months.

Watching recorded games I did not see and pulling plays of interest. Starting to pull together materials for next spring and summer clinics. Waiting for early Feb rules committee announcement

For me, I will be watching some game tapes of our games trying to see what my crew needs to do to get better for next year.

I am going to be going through my crews game films for this year (those that we got back, anyway) and pulling plays for us to use in our own continuing training. I also plan on revising our pre-season meeting and pre-game meetings to focus more on game situations.
We are all focused on doing whatever we can to becomming better officials. We had a great season, I am sorry it is over, but we are already planning for 2011.
May our brothers in stripes who are working this week have a safe travel to the stadium and call a great game!

I still call TASO basketball primarily to keep the legs moving and in shape. I'll be heading up to Arlington/Mansfield to catch some football action tonight and tomorrow. Finish the Holiday Season locally with family and friends and watch a lot of college and pro football.

Will stay keenly aware of the legal activity that should be coming out of the Federal Courtroom in Austin and gauge my future on whatever might occur there.

Like everyone else, I'll be following the NCAA to see if there will be any new rule changes implemented for 2011. I'm already busily digesting the forthcoming 2011 rule about taunting and live ball UC being enforced from the spot of the foul. I greatly suspect that after the activity in the recent Jets-Dolphins game, something might accidently be placed in the NCAA rules to further curtail sideline activity, more especially at that level.

Will attend as many TASO related clinics that I can and will try to organize film sessions with my crew to look over some of our 2010 game films.

In the Spirit of the Holiday Season, I give God the thanks and the glory for getting us safely through another football season and for giving me the loving and caring family that has so  ardently supported me in this 31 year avocational endeavor of mine; and for the countless friends and relationships that TASO has let me develop over the years.

To everyone in TASO and in this wonderful avocation of football officiating: Have a wonderful and blessed Holiday Season, and a most prosperous 2011 for everyone! May God truly bless you one and all!

I am in basketball season right now through February.  Between that, I'll be putting more time into rules study, film review and working on a big goal of mine for next season: Getting into better shape.  I may even pester a certain crew chief about some game film for a game I worked with his crew this year.... hint hint.  

Oh, and as an aside, my first child is due in about a month, so I think that will keep me rather busy too...

It only seems like yesterday that mine were in the car seat and minded me to a fault. Now the oldest is going to Texas A&M and sassing me all the time: And I truly think he has developed brain damage because he's started officiating TASO football!

Congratulations Welpe!  I finally caved in and decided to officiate basketball, this is my first season of basketball. 

As for my 'offseason' plans, my time will be spent officiating basketball, staying/getting in shape, doing lots of film review and of course, reviewing the rules.  I'm already excited for the football season to start.

Come to Sunny Britain for a holiday (we play football all year round) and enjoy such delights as an 80-yard field with no numbers, 9-yard marks, limit lines, team areas, 7-yard end zones, NFL hashmarks and grass you can lose a beanbag in.  Oh, and it's on the side of a hill, which means that the bottom end is about four feet below the top end.

I'm hitting the vacation trail. I won't go into much detail, but its been a VERY rough year personally. 1 severe illness and another death in the family. Football season was very challenging and not as rewarding as I had hoped. I will NOT miss 2010, but I'll not be taken down by it either.

It is on to track season for me. Believe it or not, there are three paid positions at track meets, and I have lined up three indoor and nine outdoor meets so far in one of those positions.

My two girls are in the middle of imaginary tea time with me. I love every minute of it (and do know it will get chippy when they get older).

I've got a month off now before training for rugby starts again, and we have football to officiate from early April through mid Sept. Otherwise I check this site every day looking for posts (especially the videosfrom TXMike).

Off season conditioning will be back in full swing in January. Coaching 5 year old soccer and some thrid grade flag football. Off course there is some baseball in their and IFL starts in March. With some rules and mechanics brush up once a week. I have some videos to get collected and reviewed as well plus a multitude of other chapter stuff. I guess I have plenty to worry about.

Other than that, I have a lot of stuff at the house to fix that has been waiting on football season to end.
