Sand Weight Flags - Leaching Problem
« on: September 06, 2011, 02:00:00 PM »
Any tips on how to keep the sand from leaking or leaching out?  I have a ball weight and center weight.  Both leak.  I've inspected them for rips, holes, etc., and have found none.

Any suggestions?

White athletic tape if you wear knickers or black if you wear black pants may help you.

Remove the sand, put the sand in a plastic wrap - the heavier the better, but even plastic kitchen wrap works OK. Tie off the plastic with a rubber band, then place the 'ball' back in the flag. Don't know which kind you have - some have the weight sewn into a pouch, some just have the weight loose in the center with the flag, tied off tightly with tape. Regardless, placing the weight in a plastic wrapping will help keep it from leaking.

El Macman is right. My flags were taped and one loosened up so I cut the tape off and then used an electrical zip tie to redo it. So far it has held up for a couple seasons as my second flag Friday night and my everyday flag for all other levels.
