27-1 Halftime Score
« on: September 19, 2011, 01:19:08 PM »
Speaking this weekend to a friend who lives down in Corpus, he said there was a HS game with a 27-1 halftime score.  He knew I officiated and wanted to know if I have ever had a game where one team had a single point.  I really thought he might of been mistaken, so today I looked searched for the game write up in the Corpus paper and this is what I found.

Quote
Carroll received a jolt on the point-after, which was blocked and returned 85 yards by Sampson Valadez for a point.

However, Carroll couldn't build any momentum and after another Erwin interception in Tigers territory late in the half, G-P capitalized yet again.

The Wildcats needed just four plays to go 27 yards, with Matthew Rooney taking a reverse from Bisby on 4th and 1 from the 18 and going around the right side and into the end zone with 21 seconds left for a 27-1 lead.

What am I missing. Is that not a TD for 2 points? Sounds like kick was blocked and returned. Not a safety on a try.

Um, that should have been 2 points.  Maybe the CC crew was distracted by their 2 inch striped shirts.

Wow.  Maybe Team B fumbled at the A-1 and then A2 recovered and carried it accross his own goalline (no momentum) where he was tackled for a 1 pt. safety.

Jason, that's all I could think of either.  Highly unlikely.

Here is one of the other game with wrong score!

From the Victoria Advocate story about the Tuloso Midway v Port Lavaca game.

Quote
After extending its lead to 58-0, thanks to an Alex Trevino rushing touchdown and a scoring pass from Bargas to Jeremy Loya, the Calhoun defense finally gave in, allowing the Warriors (0-3) to score its first touchdown of the game with 9:18 remaining in the game.
But even then, the Sandcrabs found a way to get in on the action.
The extra point was blocked, allowing Marcus Klamm to scoop up the ball and take it into the end zone to push Calhoun's lead to 59-6.

Nothing wrong with that score from us rouge-loving Canucks.
