A&M vs Tech late hit?

How many steps is a defender given before initiating contact against someone other than a passer?  It looks like #94 runs 5-6 yards and past the ball before targeting the receiver's knee.  It looks bad and clearly resulted in an injury, but is it a foul?

Targeting the opponent's knee? A late hit, if anything, but he is clearly just trying to tackle to intended receiver, not targeting the knee.

This is a late hit all the way.  The ball is bouncing on the ground when he is hit late.  I think it was avoidable so my flag would be thrown.

You are looking at it in super slo mo   Take a look at game speed.   Just a tough football play.

I think you must look at this play in full speed.  In slo mo it certainly looks like a foul but in real speed, I don't think I call this either.

Thanks for posting that, Mike. I watched slo-mo first and thought, "OMG, thats def a late hit" but after seeing real time, I dont think enough time had passed that you can claim he intentionally did that. Ouch, though. did you see the reaction of the chain crew guy?
