The 3rd annual Blue Ridge Football Officials Clinic is set for March 10, 2012 in Chattanooga, TN. We will have a totally different group of clinic leaders and some new guest speakers.

Will there be any on field work at this clinic?

No. The format is speakers and position breakouts with video. Check out the website and the schedule should be simular to last years with different presenters. The clinic is from 8:30 to about 5:00 with lunch served.  We had a high school officiating only break out last year and will do so if enough officials want it. The theme is not rules but mechanics, tools to advance, a chance to improve, and to meet and mingle with officials who have advanced to the top levels of officiating.

This was an outstanding clinic last year. I drove six hours to attend. My on,y complaint is that a lot of the speakers/clinicians we're too busy talking to each other to mingle with the participants.

This was an outstanding clinic last year. I drove six hours to attend. My only complaint is that a lot of the speakers/clinicians we're too busy talking to each other to mingle with the participants.

To address that this year, each speaker/clinician will be stationed at a table/booth in a restaurant and each attendee will be given 5 minutes to interact. Following this, a tiny bell will ring with music for one minute. During that minute, one speaker/clinician will be removed. After the music stops, if you aren't sitting with a speaker/clinicial, you get to stand on the side. Last one with a speaker/clinician, gets to work a UT Chattanooga scrimmage...at umpire.

Well, not really but sounded like fun..

Seriously, these are all people who ENJOY teaching and speaking with younger officials. Sounds like a great opportunity.

I would hope you expressed your feelings to the clinic organizers. Sometimes things like this happen without anyone realizing they've created a problem. Knowing how the paying customers feel is the only way it can be addressed and I think most clinics want to be better than that.
