I can hear the coaches now  ..."Even with a 7 man crew you guys miss that!!!"

I know you know, but the 6 and 7 don't help on this play.  Likely a tough play for most HS Rs.  Play starts near B35, R likely around the 50.  R watches QB and might not realize interception is made until interceptor is at full speed.  With only a 20 yard head start R is dead in a 70 yard race with this athlete.  Might have been a good idea to stay out of the way of the pursuing OT but he wouldn't have made the play either.  Sadly, not too many HS crews could have gotten this call.  A very quick HL/LJ might have a chance, but the ones I know who could can't get this game (they're young and their crews don't get this level of game).

Nice get by FJ/SJ? on next play on LH OOB.  That official could have made the goal line on the prior play had he been the LJ or HL.  But he's a BJ on his HS crew.

Was this really the crew's 3rd playoff game of the weekend?

Gotta beat the runner to the goalline.  R needs to get on his horse.  Of course not all R's can run a 4.7 fourty yard time but me.   ;D   TexDoc would be a close second to me.

Could be, and maybe all out of town.  If their chapter believe they can hang, then more power to them.

Well......the R only had to "run" 50 yards.  The player went 65 in the time it took the R to go 40.  That being said, you likely will not find many D-1 or NFL R's at the goal line waiting on a similar play either.  Maybe fresher legs would have helped...who knows.

Except for the obvious (the goal line being unattended on that one play), the clips I saw looked like they were having a pretty good game. I would hate that we are falling into the coaches' mindset of judging a crew's game performance based on one play, which in and of itself was an anathema. But you guys are right - when we step into a big-time venue, there are cameras everywhere!

Yes.

Thursday @ Sinton ISD for Refugio v Three Rivers.
Friday, @ Converse Judson for Kerrville Tivy v Austin Vandergrift.
Satruday, that game, but did add the 2 extra officials at Coaches request.
This weekend, 2 more for a total in 3 weeks of 7 playoffs.

They might deserve their own chapter space on the 2011 playoff chart.  They'll likely outwork all but 5 or 6 chapters.

These are all coaches picks (supposedly).  What the chapter thinks means NADA.

I know it's heresy here, but maybe the UIL could do things more equitably.

When you have  a game with teams of that level of ability, the game essentially runs itself.  The crew is along for the ride. Almost any crew could work the game.  But even then, you are going to have a few "Waterloo" moments.  The test is are you able to handle those ?

I wonder if coaches for Saturday game knew they would have 2 games in the 2 days prior?  You would think in a Chapter that size there would be plenty of other crews to help "shoulder the load."

Houston has 80 crews.  Likely 20 or so could have worked the game but only 2 were asked.  The first crew already had a game.  Of the 80 games that went to Houston in the first 2 weeks, 40 went to only 11 crews and those 11 worked at least 1 double.

So many things I could say about this comment, but I think a simple, "I agree" will suffice

Any comments about what I see as a late hit OOB at 1:59?

SJ/FJ (?) got it.  That's the kind of foul we need to get.  I mentioned in my first post, thought it was a good get.

More cushion would have helped?

Maybe LESS "cushion" in the posterior would have helped.   pi1eOn

I don't know how it was called but it's quite possible that the crew even got the unattended goal line play correct.  The video cuts off so, no idea where the ball goes.  If it stops in the end zone and nobody secures it, it's dead there and belongs to Team B (Allen).  Touchdown.  Anybody know, did the officials signal touchdown right away?  Did the ball become dead in the end zone?  Or did it roll out the back?  If it did roll out the back, what was the ruling on the play?
