BCS National Championship Game
« on: December 01, 2011, 10:59:51 AM »
Assuming for the sake of argument that it winds up being a rematch between LSU and Alabama, what would you suppose the odds are of an SEC crew landing the game?

interesting scenario.  all SEC game from the teams participating.
I see no issues if SEC crew worked it.
Heck, I assume the SEC teams would prefer SEC crew too.

I believe the game is on a rotation with the different BCS conferences unless that conference has a team playing in it.  I am not sure if that is still how the game is assigned now, but I think it used to be.  If it still is, I am unsure of whose turn it is to work it.

The previous 5 games have all had an SEC team so their turn is definitely up.  Having 2 teams in the championship is probably the only way an SEC crew would ever be able to work this game.

The last time an SEC crew worked the BCSCG was the USC/Oklahoma game following the 2004 season.

I have heard that Shaw has already put a bug in Redding's ear about this.  At the onset I don't have an issue with it...although I think there may be something to be said to have a "fresh" crew that isn't as familiar with the teams/coaches, etc.  No pre-conceived notions.  Don't get me wrong, I am not saying an SEC crew would be biased towards either team, or would not work a great game.

Good luck to the crew that is selected.

Could be wrong, but a reasonably reliable source says Big XII. The SEC crew idea was considered but nixed.

Am i the only one hoping Bama gets blown out of the water so that we NEVER get this scenario again? How do you get to lose your own division, not have to play a conf champ gm and STILL get into the MNC game?

Because you play the number one team in the nation to a 6-6 tie in regulation and dominate everyone else.  let's face it - there is Alabama and LSU, then everyone else this year.  What concerns me is that LSU folks are saying their best team is still a year away - yikes!

And, to go ahead and put myself out on a real limb - other than LSU/Bama, the team I would not want to play right now is USC(alifornia). Seems someone forgot to tell them they weren't supposed to be very good with reduced scholarship limits and nothing to play for.

6-6.  Alabama's signature win this year was a loss apparently. :)

And yes, the 2012 should probably be improved.

Even if they worked Oregon vs. LSU already?

No, there signature loss was a 6-6 (corrected) tie after regulation tothe number one team in the nation.  There signature wins include Penn State and Arkansas.

Agreed, OK State looked good. I think I actually agree with the BCS top ten this year, particularly 1-6.  Maybe Wisconsin is a little better than 10.

Bama in the MNC game reminds me of when you're watching an item for 3 days on Ebay and with 10 seconds left in the auction, someone comes in and overbids you by .01.

True, I forgot about that one. But they sure have been showcased, every TV game you see is that crew.

Damn good crew, BTW

If you don't mind a false start being called an offside.  (Although I guess that is a Big 12 deal)  Or personal fouls by a team who had a TD scored on them being declined.   ;)

Awwright --  everybody knows I got a dog in this fight, but ......

Remind me again who OSU played in their conference championship game?

Remind me again which conferences voted AGAINST a rule requiring BCSCG participants to be conference champions? (Hint: They both have "12" as part of their names)

Remind me again which team had a 17-point lead in the 2nd half of the game they lost to a 27-point underdog?

Look:  If this was 1995 (the year before OT was instituted for the regular season), which two 11-0-1 teams would the media and fans be clamoring to see in the title game?

Very good crew and the PF was marked off on the KO. Those who say they have never thrown a flag they wish they could have back or have only worked perfect games throughout their career shouldn't write on message boards! Yes and it happens to the best even at the highest level. Best Quote I have ever heard from my mentor my first year on the field some 20+ years ago....If you forget everything I tell you this season please remember one thing on your way up..... Silence can never be misquoted!!!

So, im a Notre Dame guy. I just dontthink you should default into a champ game just because of your name recognition.

Im sure after Bama loses again, theyll still claim this MNC title anyway...
