Reason No. 426 to work minor league games. I actually had a situation where a dog almost tackled a ball carrier headed for a major: that forced me to go to the rule book and figure out what I woulda done had the dog actually taken down the kid in question.

I'll give the newspaper the benfit of the doubt but based on some "eyewitness" reports, the thing was not that close to the action.  Still looking for video of it but it seems it ran the length of the field. Some have even suggested Team A released it as a way to distract the defenders.  This play ended up being the winning TD I think. Buit stadium folks have said they have 2 foxes that are frequent "guests" to the facility.  So, who knows??  I did see one highlight video that included this TD and I did not see the creature and it sure did njot look like any defenders were stopping their attempts to make a tackle

Would be like he just slipped on wet grass, right? Ncaa just says hes down when any part of his body touches the ground other than a hand.  Nfl would prob be diff, tho.

All we have is if the ball is loose and hits the fox we would use inadvertant whistle rules.

than a player, a player’s equipment, an official, an official’s equipment
or the ground (inadvertent-whistle provisions apply).

Yeah, the kid would still be down, but in Canadian rules, there's a whole special protocol for dealing with non-player interference. I can't recall my NFHS rules - but doesn't the same sorta protocol apply?

I didnt see a part about a loose ball just thought it was talking about the dog tackling the runner.

Using the basics of the "Inadvertent Whistle" mechanics (NF: 4-2-3-a,b,c or d) seems to make sense in a situation where a dog, fox or any other animal interferes with play, although it's NF: 1-1-6 that gives the authority to the referee and relys on his judgment, "to rule promptly and in the spirit of good sportsmanship, on any situation not covered in the rules".

Southlake was playing Dallas Skyline. Came played at SMU

Onside kick recovered by SLC but there was blocking by SLC before the ball went 10 yards or was touched.
