Absolutely incredible!  Coach Amendola, you've just won a state championship, what are you going to do now?  I think I'll get run over by a cart!

Someone was collecting the pylons and one fell on the accelerator.  There was video later in the broadcast that showed a fellow running after it from the endzone.

Even if the JerryWorld field personnel were remotely worried that those pylons and the down-marker and chains might accidentally make it home into someone's personal trophy case, then they should have waited until all the players, coaches, media, and support staff were totally off of the field to do anything along the lines of cleaning it up.

It does appear that Jerry may well be finding himself in the unenviable position of having to offer up settlements to the victims in order to clear this little matter up!  z^

Exactly.  What really was the hurry?

Sure hope Julie Ann Moore was not driving the cart when she saw a 15 year old...

The media has picked up on this nationally. What's the over/under on the date the first lawsuit is filed?

It's Monday.  Mildly surprised it's not already happened.

How much you want to bet they didn't set the safety brake on that before getting out?

he cart was going by itself because a pylon placed upright where a driver's or passenger's feet should go had fallen over and become wedged between the accelerator and a part of the cart.  Easy way to prevent it from happening again, DON'T put pylons there or DON'T put them upright.  After the cart was stopped, there's a picture of the cart with two pylons in the SAME position.  Someone thought it essential to put those pylons back in the same spot.

What will come of this is a power interupptor switch under the driver's seat, much like lawn tractor's, etc. If there ain't a butt in the seat (or some facsimile), it won't run.

Somehow I remember that technology existed on golf carts years ago. Here, it's a simple case of "You can't fix stupid."

If you see the video from above, you can see the guy driving the cart and he jumps off of it while it is still moving then it takes off.  Maybe he should have taken the time to set the parking break before getting off.

I think the guy who jumped off the cart actually ended up in the cart after being hit from behind.

Correct.  And if you look, as the cart nears hitting the people he pulls up and slows down.  I bet he really had the pucker factor going!

Sorry...I was thinking about the other guy who bailed off.

The guy who bailed out was Coach Amendola of Spring DeKaney.  He'd just won the state championship game.  He was talking to the reporters when suddenly he's hit from behind.  He said he tried to steer it away from people but then felt like he didn't have control of it and that he'd better get off so he bailed.  They interviewed him on the local news and he said, "When I did it, I thought it was pretty athletic.  When I watched the tape, I thought nope that's just a 56 year old guy falling off a cart."  Or something close to that.
