The California High School Football season is officially over with 5 state championship bowl games played this past weekend at the Home Depot Center in Carson California. Here are the results.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16

Division IV - Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth) 34 def. Le Grande 14

Division I - Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita) 42 def. Bellarmine (San Jose) 37

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17

Division III - Washington Union (Fresno) 21 def. Campolindo (Moraga) 16

Division II - Helix (La Mesa) 35 def. Del Oro (Loomis) 24

Open Division - De La Salle (Concord) 35 def. Westlake (Westlake Village) 0

De La Salle has played in either the Division I or Open Division game all six years of the championships and has one 4 times.

Next year, we are adding a regional playoff.

I assume that Div. I and II are decided on school size. How are the Open Division participants decided?

I used to be a california official (northern channel coast, although they call it something else now).  Which chapters had the games?

Best regards,

Brad

You are correct on the divisions. Open Division is supposed to be the best team from Norcal and SoCal playing each other. The CIF commissioners vote on it. Next year we will have a regional play off for each game. Hopefully it will take some of the guess work out of it.

So the Open Division is selected first and then the Div. I & II?

Yes, Vandenberg.  One of my best assignments.  Really like that area of rural California.  Beautiful coast as well.

Best regards,

Brad
