Clock after KCI

Had a situation last night, Kick Catch Interference.  Team R elects to enforce from previous spot.  After we mark off the penalty doe sthe clock start on the ready or the snap? 

We started on the snap, but now I question that as what I'm reading says start on the snap only if either team is awarded a new series following legal kick, and awarding a new series is only done after considering the effect of a penalty.

I feel like this is in plain english somewhere in the book and I'm overlooking it

The clock for punt plays can get a little screwy.  If the punt goes OOB, you would start on the snap if the down is replayed.  If it's down in bounds, you would go on the ready.  If the foul is on B and results in a first down, then it's always on the snap regardless of what happened.
