U turns towards ??? on a scrimmage kick

On a scrimmage kick which way should the Umpire turn towards?

OK, I'll bite... why does it make a difference which way he turns so long as he stays with his keys?

OK, I'll bite... why does it make a difference which way he turns so long as he stays with his keys?

Do you think he's asking whether to turn left or right? I thought he was asking whether U should face A's goal or B's goal after the kick.

Isn't the direction that the Ump turns related to where the R is positioned?

Look at it this way: It isn't that he is turning to be turning; he is observing the action that needs to be observed, while holding a generally stationary position until he is clear of players. Since his focus is linemen, and they are generally all moving downfield, to maintain observation, he'll - naturally - have to turn his head, and, ultimately, his body, to maintain observation. The players will tell him when and where to turn and move. In some circumstances he may turn quickly; he may turn slowly; he might not even get turned at all. So, let the players direct your attention.

This is the direction we have been given this year. Turn away from the R so you can cover different lanes.  It's guidance though because all the action may go to one side of the field.
