« on: September 18, 2012, 09:03:32 AM »
Dont have Rule Book here.
Need Rule citation, please, regarding eligible receivers blocking downfield on passes.

Rule: 7-5-10
 It is forward-pass interference if:
a. Any player of A or B who is beyond the neutral zone interferes with an eligible opponent's opportunity to move toward, catch or bat the pass.

Rule: 7-5-7
Pass interference restrictions only apply beyond the neutral zone and only if the legal forward pass, untouched by B in or behind the neutral zone, crosses the neutral zone. Pass interference restrictions are in effect for all A and B players until the ball is touched or the pass is incomplete.

Rule: 7-5-8
Pass interference restrictions on a legal forward pass begin for:
a. A with the snap.

Rule: 7-5-11
It is not forward-pass interference if:

b. Contact by A is immediately made on a B lineman and the contact does not continue beyond the expanded neutral zone.

Rule: 9-3-1
Blocking by a player either on offense or defense is illegal when it is:

b. Forward-pass interference.

See Rules 7-6 through 7-11.

Also, Table 7-5 (page 61 in the 2012 Rule Book) provides a clear summary of PI, the applicable penalties, and the enforcement spot.

In this play, see 7-8a: "Pass interference restrictions (WHICH APPLY ONLY TO A LEGAL FORWARD PASS WHICH CROSSES THE NZ UNTOUCHED BY B) begin for A at the snap"; and 7-9a,b: Restrictions end for a) all eligible A players when the pass has been touched by ANY player; b) all for ineligible A players, when the pass is touched by B"

See also 2012 Case Book plays 7.5.10B and 7.5.10D.

Since I don't know Steve, and he didn't say he wanted to show it to someone, I figured he could look it up later.  Sorry Steve...no offense...at least "HL" gave you all the verbage.
