Yeah, just trying to make things run more smoothlyier, as usual.  That's how the U rolls.  :bOW

I'm not against it so much as I think it more valuable to post a reply and provide insight on why you may agree/disagree with a poster's viewpoint.  Telling someone they're wrong without explanation is not particularly instructive.

We had this when I first joined refstripes and it was eventually removed.  Refstripes is such a small community that it's tough to miss anything.  The thumbs up-down idea can work on very busy communities like YouTube.

One site that I'm a part of only has a "thumbs up."  This is much better because it is positive.  Thumbs down is a negative and can be divisive.  The best posts will flow up to the top with a "thumbs up."  Some people will argue that you need thumbs down to balance thumbs up, but I don't agree. The best stuff will naturally flow to the top.

Thumbs up-down is even less instructive.  It is a mindless vote rather than a substantive comment.  If someone has something to say, they should say it.  Anonymous downgrading is no more useful than fan comments during a game.

I like the idea of a "like" or some such, button.  If you have a dissenting point of view then make your point, there's no reason to regurgitate the same rhetoric if you are in agreement, unless you want to.  Personally  I'd like to be able to support comments that I deem valid and constructive.

I'm sometimes a little slow fellas.  If I'm understanding this, each reply would have the ability to have folks give a thumbs up/down to? - right?

Right, Steve.
"Gentlemen, we are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect. But we are going to relentlessly chase it, because in the process we will catch excellence. I am not remotely interested in just being good."

I'd prefer just a thumbs up (or a "thanks", which I've seen on other forums) over both up and down, for the reasons mentioned above.

And I was sorely tempted to vote for the third choice...  ;)
