Sugar Bowl Side Judge

Did anyone see the Sugar Bowl side judge shake Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops' hand in congratulatory fashion with 2 seconds left in the game?  I was told this is a no-no for it gives the appearance of favoritism.

Conversely, if a coach sticks his hand out to shake yours, are you going to tell him no? I think not.

Not during the game, and as soon as there is 00:00 on the clock, I'm running for the locker room.

I've had players do that and have explained to them why it wouldn't be such a great idea for me to do so.

But at least you acknowledged them, which was my point. Neither seek nor avoid...

Hopefully I'll know what to do when I get there  :)

With 2 seconds left in an exhibition game, I don't see a problem with it.  Especially him being from a neutral conference.  It is still a game, not warfare.

At the end of today's Denver/San Diego game John Fox stuck his hand out to Clete Bakeman as they crossed paths leaving the field and said "Good job." IMO, there is nothing wrong with acknowledging a coach or player in that situation with a polite "Thank you."

After the last pitch of this year's World Series, as the Sox catcher began to head to the mound for the celebration, he first turned and said : "Good job !" to the plate ump. In response, the ump nodded. We are all humans and enjoy praise. When it comes from a losing coach or losing player, it is especially meaningful. I'm with Rulesman on this. :thumbup
