Kurt Bryan | Founder & Executive VP of League Development

Why did I know his name would pop up in this?  Guess we will have to refer to it as

The League That Shall Not Be Named

I am intrigued- a league totally based on the fact one can wear whatever the %$#@ number they want!  I'm sure ticket sales will go through the roof.

A11FL A11FL.COM
Rule 1:
Restricted Lineman
A restricted lineman is an interior
lineman who is not on the end of his
scrimmage line. All restricted linemen
are ineligible receivers at the snap and
must remain ineligible during the play.
Ineligible receivers may not cross the
line of scrimmage to receive a pass.
Jersey Numbers in the A11FL
The offense may have all eleven
players on the field wearing numbers
1-49 & 80-99 & 00 at the same time
on downs 1 - 4.
Players in red are “restricted linemen” who are ineligible to receive the football downfield because they are not positioned on the end of the line of scrimmage. This same rule is applied to linemen at all levels of football - except they must also wear jersey numbers 50-79.

I saw that too, VA.  I decided to give them the benefit of doubt and decided that was the date that "the dream" was launched. ;D

Actually, this is not an unexpected, or necessarily bad development.  Remembering the heated discussions about A-11 Football, from a couple of years ago, there wasn't much support for the dramatic changes this approach made to the game of Football, as we currently know it.

The game of Football has been doing just fine, bumping along on it's own, and since it doesn't seem broken, there wasn't a lot of interest in fixing it.  Now the poropnents of this approach have decided to "go their own way" and create a DIFFERENT game.  There's room in this world for Canadian Football, different levels of American Football, Eureopean Football (aside from Soccer), Arena Football and all sorts of Flag Football and each game is on it's own to succeed or fail.

I don't think the success, or failure, of this "new" game will have any material efect on the more traditional, and enduring levels of football we are all familiar with.  It seems better for something "Different" to strike out on its own than to try and change something that's already working just fine.

Just to nitpick, "European Football" is just the same as "NCAA Football", as even though we use a different rule set in theory (IFAF Rules), the rule set is actually exactly the same (at least for now, and I don't see a reason to change).

Thank you Kalle, any day you learn something, is a successful day.  No slight intended, I wasn't sure if there were any subtle differences.

I still like on the website that they spew that garbage that the A11 is safer.  So they have ONE rule change from regular football - no numbering requirements.

So essentially he's saying that the shirt you wear makes the game safer.  Logic 101

I like that the game is 'going back to the way it was originally played'!

So that means no forward pass, no pads, and (one of the only really old rules I know) the penalty for Off holding is turning the ball over to the other team.

Or maybe they go way back to the 1880's - 3 downs for 5 yards?
