What are the rules about Officials working games involving NFL Teams They Support or Their college Alma Mater?

I don't know about NFL...  but I suppose it would be individual conference policies for conflicts of interest

When you reach the NFL level there is no team you "support".

Individual conferences have rules regarding colleges attended or graduated from.  Some have an outright mark off while others have a time period of so many years since attendance/graduation.

I wonder how you would even determine a legitimate COI for a pro team? Unless you were at one time an employee of the team I dont see how you could definitively argue that someone has a connection to any given team. College is very cut and dry...you attended the school, you have a degree or some kind of registration that can be proven.

Byron Boston was at one time blocked from working the Cardinals when David, his son was playing.  Then whatever other teams he played for.

Granted the NBA looks at it differently, but truth be known, most NFL officials probably don't want to work their hometown team. Who needs those headaches?

NCAA: I may be wrong but I thought I read/heard you cant work for your alma mater for 10?, maybe 15 yrs after you've graduated. - certainly that is very conference-specific

NFL: arent they designated mostly "west coast" and 'east coast' crews because where the crew mwmbers live - so travel isnt such a pain?  If that is the case, it seems likely NFL would work 'home' team often.  although, I would say nfl guys could care-less about having a favorite team.

Im sure there are people like me in the NFL who have been fans of a team for as long as they remember. If I was to call in the NFL I would have to request not to call a cowboy game for that matter. No matter how much I tried it would be hard to not be partial, consciously or not
