2015 World Series Champs (just for fun)......
« on: April 14, 2015, 01:06:03 PM »
We all love football yEs:. Some of us love baseball yEs:. Many of us (including MLB big-shots) may feel the game lasts too long. Many in Red Sox Nation had their radio/TV/computer/whatever tuned to Red Sox baseball last Friday for the first pitch @ Yankee Stadium @ 7:05 PM. Few had their radio/TV/computer/whatever still on last Saturday for the last pitch @ Yankee Stadium @ 1:51 AM.

All of us probably have a favorite team.

Take a minute to vote for them, with your heart....
      or......
Who you think will win, with your brain.

Your opinions are welcomed....

                                  Thanks, tiphat:

PS : Tom Brady threw out the first pitch yesterday at Fenway's opener..."Big Papi" was the catcher...the pitch was in the dirt.... "Big Papi" trapped it...it would have been ruled incomplete...the ball was not deflated.

..... ??? When "somebody else" started to become a runaway, I began to realize that I had left off some very possible teams. Here's an expanded list with a fresh start. You get a chance to vote again as a "do-over".

   Sorry for overlooking the fact that there are more than just the Sox and Yanks in the American League!

   Make your vote count !!! tiphat:

Thanks for your vote,SD, if you vote for "Everybody else" and specify who it's intended for via a post I'll tabulate those as write in ballots, so as of 2 minutes ago : Sox & Twins tied for the lead :thumbup.

Ref: "Are you married coach?"
Coach (suddenly offguard): "umm...yeah, why?"

Only if Carroll was coaching ;)....would he order an intentional walk with the bases loaded ::)??

Trivia tester : What would be a situation where an intentional pass with the bases loaded would be a smart move???

He would have made a great DH, since he carried a "big stick".

BUZZZ....time's up...according to a local sports radio station, as a Bangor school is scheduled to play them shortly, Lyndon State is scheduled to play 22 games over the next 14 games....needless to say, most are doubleheaders....needless to say, hope they have a deep pitching staff nAnA.

BUZZZ....time's up tiphat:. Consider the following :

  (1) Wormville Weasels have the sacks jammed with Bubba scheduled to bat;
  (2) Bubba  shows more interest in ogling the prom queen picking posies that batting;
  (3) Tugboat bats after Bubba, but decides to bat in place of;
  (4) Spitball, the Cornville Cow Flaps coach, comes alive and asks the ump to intentionally walk
        Tugboat - in NFHS pitches need not be thrown.
  (5) Spitball now appeals Tugboat for batting out of turn - if the appeal had occurred with Tugboat
        still at bat, the situation would be merely corrected.
  (6) One-eyed Smitty, the ump, uses his good eye to observe the lineup card and agree.
  (7) Bubba is declared out, runners are returned and a Cow Flap victory aWaRd aWaRd

Epilogue: For his coaching expertise, Spitball is treated to all the penutbutter & jellyfish sandwiches he can eat at the Cornville Cafe. eAt&

Bubba had disappeared into the gloaming with the prom queen long before he was ruled out. ;)

Tugboat found that all four tires on his pickup truck had been flattened. :(

    .....not all baseball stories can have happy endings.....

You got me there, the local high school baseball games have been postponed for the last three weeks too. a few years ago I helped the head coach of the Lyndon Hockey team and the worst road trip was to Maine Maritime where the locals would put pennies in plastic bottles and shake them until you couldn't hear yourself think :!# :!#

I'm partial to a true underdog story and would love to see the Cubbies finally end the pain. But I'm from San Diego, it'd be nice to see the Padres finally stop being a minor league team... +1 for both.

Madden is a GREAT manager. - hated to lose him.
SD made major trades/changes over the season. - may work out.

I, on the other hand, was absolutely thrilled to see the Cubs get Maddon.  If nothing else, between him, and all the kids making their way to the bigs, the next couple of seasons will be a lot more interesting than the last few. pray:;

...and don't forget Theo...behind the scenes and pulling the strings. Many in Red Sox Nation felt that Coach Maddon resembled Elmer Fudd but respected him. All in Red Sox Nation respected John Lester for his ability on the mound and his ability to recover from cancer...

"MAY IT BE A RED SOX / CUBBIE WORLD SERIES..." was only a prayer pray:; / wish /hope / whatever and not a prediction. 2 jiggers of 101 proof Wild Turkey Bourbon added to ones lobster chowder will often improve ones enjoyment of the day. eAt&

Disclaimer : One should not operate heavy machinery, drive a motor vehicle, or post responses on Refstripes after consuming said meal. P_S Just sit out on one's piazza , in ones rocking chair and enjoy the countryside.

Chef's suggestion : If a dessert is then desired, the above recipe while withholding the lobster chowder,may be  enjoyable.  The countryside may then appear foggy. :D

At age 69, I pray for :
      May I awake each morning alive pray:;;
       May I umpire baseball without being hit by the ball pray:;;
         May I officiate football without being tipped over pray:;;
           May the Red Sox always finish ahead of the Yankees in the AL East pray:;;

I have other prayers, but these are the everyday staples. tiphat:
