Setting aside the merits, or lack thereof, of the claim, for what it's worth, I thought the author of the article actually did a good job presenting the issue, and did not immediately throw the officials under the bus. The one thing that I didn't see was what the hoped to gain from it
The Buffalo Parent-Student Athletic Organization, "an entourage that included parents, community leaders and former NFL player Demeris Johnson, and the president of the District Parent Coordinating Council all had to have their say, but the coach of the "offended" team opted out.
They filed "official complaints" with the New York State Public High Schools Athletic Association, the state education commissioner's office and U.S. Department of Education requesting a review of bias and discriminatory officiating and a review of NYSPHSAA policies and practices.
The article didn't mention the remedy they seek.
Upstate Al, this may be a little further upstate than you are, but I assume that there are rules for protesting the game, etc. This wouldn't seem to be the way to go about it.
Not a lawyer, but do any of these folks have "standing" to file these complaints in the first place? The coach is moving on, shouldn't the parents?
