Ah, Ford, only president not elected.  Could have played in the NFL.  "Played too much football without a helmet" - LBJ.

Wasn't Andrew Johnson also considered not an elected President, as he took over for Abe Lincoln after he was assassinated?

Not to mention John Tyler, Millard Fillmore, and Chester A. Arthur.

Not to mention John Tyler, Millard Fillmore, and Chester A. Arthur.

They were all elected vice president by the electoral college, and therefore were considered "elected." Ford was appointed to the post and then took over when Nixon resigned, and is therefore considered un-elected since he lost in 1976.

Very good job, guys. Nixon was a backup tackle while JFK played only for the Harvard JVs.

Spiro Agnew resigned, Gerald Ford was appointed.  Every other president that has served was elected to the executive branch of The United States.
