LSU vs Bama Last Play

If Bama had 12 men on the field and the snap was imminent, why were they allowed to run him off the field without a flag being thrown?
Also, refs got the fumble and touching by an out of bounds player correct. Saw that wondered if I’d be called. Tough tough call in that environment.

I'm assuming you are talking about 12 men on defense.  In that case as long as there are not 12 men on the field when the ball is snapped, there is no foul under NCAA rules.  12 men on offense is completely different.

  • The rules are there if you need them.

JRA,
You may have old rules in mind. Several years ago, the rule for team B substitutions was changed to be strictly a live-ball foul. The ball has to be snapped, and the down played. Also, they changed the interpretation of being off the field to actually having at least one foot on the ground, off the field.

Thanks Elvis. I knew the rule changed for running off but couldn’t remember if they “lined up in formation” made a difference.
