The Fenway Bowl will be interesting. In order to squeeze the field into Fenway Park, both teams will occupy the same sideline.  Each team gets assigned a space from the 45 yard line down to the goal line.

Will the wall between them be built by Democrats or Republicans? Inquiring minds want to know.

Nice quiet day for Wing Officials on the "Other" sideline (probably the one in front of the "Green Monster").

131 FBS schools
43 bowl games x 2 teams each = 86 teams involved in bowl games

131-86 = 45 schools not playing in a bowl game.

So, 65% of FBS schools are playing in a bowl game, and 35% are not. To my way of thinking, if a team didn't get a bowl game, they really suck.

...so along those lines, how many officials (what percentage) of FBS officials are working a bowl game, and what percentage are sitting at home?

Surprised the ACC gets the NCG when it had it last year and the PAC-12 doesn’t have a team in the CFP. Wonder if Shaw just thinks more highly of the ACC staff (I certainly do) and made the decision that way.

Well, that means we'll be sending air marshals to Fenway.

Are you suggesting simply adding 20+ more "Bowl Games", would somehow automatically improve EVERY team's performance?  If EVERYONE received a Bowl Game assignment, what would be the objective /accomplishment in receiving one?

Read  slowly.
With  as  many  bowl  games  as  there  are  nowadays,  the  standard  for  a  team  being  eligible  for  a  bowl  game  is  very  low.  If  a  team  doesn't  get  a  bowl  game  under  these  very  low  standards,  they must  be  a  very  poor  team  ( i. e.,  they  really  suck).

As for officials, during my FBS days, our coordinator took the position that he had done his homework and vetting before he hired us, and every official on his staff (rookie or 25-year veteran) was capable of working any assignment he had to make, whether pre-season, regular season, or post-season. He simply rotated the assignments. Each year I got one, I knew I would probably not get one the next year, unless the number of bowl games we got as a staff needed us (which did happen a few times). Didn't matter. Because he gave us that respect, we gave it back by giving our 100% effort every down of every game, pre-season, regular season, or post-season, whether we knew we would get a post-season assignment or not. And Jim Blackwood left this world knowing that he was the most beloved and effective coordinator of all time. I know several that would/will never have such respect and appreciation.
We all know the Christian acronym for dealing with life and people: WWJD?  When it came/comes to officiating issues, I used, and STILL use, this: WWJBD?  Thank you, Mr. Blackwood. Rest in peace.

Any grace allotment for substitutes/substituted players getting on/off the field from/to their team area with the ball placed deep at the opposite end?

Years ago it was exciting for "your' team to make it to a bowl game,  Now, the excitement is diminished and you're embarrassed if you don't make one.
I know money is the deciding factor but come on make it exciting again.   The Liberty or Tangerine were the small bowls so one fo them started things off and the last was on January 2.  December 30 through Jan 2 football was life.
