NCAA does 40.  I'm not sure what the interp is for NFHS.  40 always trumps 25 in NCAA, FWIW.

The default is 25 following an official’s TO, unless the problem (penalty, injury, helmet off) is caused by B alone.

Case play 3.6.1 Situation F

For clarity 3.6.1 Situation F was added in the 2025 Case Book to clarify the confusion regarding this issue.

tHE RATIONALE OF THS RULE:

less than 0:40 left ,but more than 0:25 left in period/half/game whatever.. B's coach -who is also a math teacher - could force A to run a play w/25 play clock by B player faking an injury. 40 sec. PC would allow A to run out the clock.

NOTE: I pushed this to be treated the same as 3-4-7 and only applicable to the last 2 of a half. I lost :(.

RESULT: 11:59 remaining in 1st peroiod > B player injured > 40 PC.

What’s the rationale for :25 superseding :40 in a situation where both teams have an injured player? As noted in NCAA it’s the opposite – :40 supersedes :25. Why different in FED?

We felt :25 PC on injured A player should suporcede :40 PC on B's injury, too.

WE also felt that what the NCAA does, doesn't mean we should do it, too.
