Six Player Question
« on: October 21, 2025, 07:39:10 AM »
Six player playoff game. Team A has 8 players suited up, Team B has 6 players suited up. Score is 38-0 with Team A up at the half. At the beginning of the 3rd quarter, Team B loses two players to injuries. Both teams want to continue to play, and during the next drive, B11's helmet comes off (not the result of a foul.)

Ruling?

Does Team B have any timeouts?  Rule says if less than four players are available to play, the game is suspended.  If B has a timeout, have them use it to buy the player back in.  I would hate to suspend the game because of one play.  And is it possible one of the injured players could simply stand on the field, out of the way, for the one play to keep four out there?

Both are very good ideas!

Hadn't thought about buying him back in, or having a 'placeholder' on the field. I had a very similar situation come up three years ago, we wound up suspending the game due to lack of players (don't believe it was a district game, and the team with more players was on the verge of 45ing them, so everyone was happy with the outcome.)
