What is the call on this??

https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipNUPAFSGSsrpvf8rQpv-tWu2VYn9WVrzv4-xeBJ - Sorry for the link not working, and the file is too large to upload.

Basically team is in a legal punt formation, and once the punter receives the snap, he throws underhand like an official would deep, and the gunner catches and scores.

I saw the video here recently and yes, this would be a touchdown. It was an eligible player that caught the ball.

The take away from the play is you cannot have DPI because it was from a scrimmage kick formation (punt) on fourth down and the pass simulated a punt.

I was the B in this game. There was one receiver back around the 10 yd line. I had a great view of the kicker and saw the underhand throw. Coaches and players were yelling Peter, Peter, and the receiver never really got close to it. Perfect timing as the offensive gunner just ran past his blocker and caught it in stride and to the endzone.

Thanks, Guys, this last post from X is the play.  My question is wouldn't this be under deception since this was a punt formation and made to look like a punt??  Unfair tactics 9-2-2??

What’s the difference between this and a play action pass that deceives the defense by looking like a running play?

9-2-2 lists what is considered illegal deception and this doesn’t fall into any of the categories. They don’t conceal the ball, they’re not using the substitution process, and they’re not using equipment to deceive.

Football has always been a game of "Fakes" & planned deception.  Nothing illegal, irregular or prohibited. As it turned out, deception was effective and successful.
