  • The rules are there if you need them.
1-A (6-Player) football and numbering exceptions
« on: June 08, 2026, 01:28:11 PM »
FYI, in 6-player football, since all players are eligible at all times, regardless of numbering or positioning, there is no rule related to “numbering exceptions,” and there is no rule reference to a “scrimmage kick formation.” Therefore, the 2026 NCAA Rule Change at 7-1-4-a does not apply to UIL 1-A (6-player) football. All players are free to change position(s), participate in a shift, or be substituted, as at any other time.
Since all players are eligible, Team B should never be confused about which players need to be covered. Simple. ALL OF THEM - ALWAYS (as long as a forward pass is legal).
If you were wondering.

In Maine, 2/3 of the football schools play 8-man football. They allow only the players at the end of the line and backs to be eligible BUT they have no numbering requirements. "Tis a challange on occation.
