Video Storage & Access

I know this has been discussed in the past but I wanted to throw it out again to see if anyone else has a better solution.... 

My D3 conference is looking for an on-line repository where we can upload video and - SECURLY make it available to our staff.  We had hoped to use Arbiter, but I was informed yesterday that their video module will not be available "until the fall".  And, to make it even less attractive for us this year, its going to be pretty pricey.  We don't think our conferences will pick up the check...

So... what are others using, if anything, to make video available to their staff.

Check with the Big 12 conference. They most likely will give you game videos but you will have to duplicate them.

How much storage do you think you are going to need?  Are you talking about uploading complete games or will it just be training plays pulled from games?

Just individual plays... probably 2 - 6MB each.  If necessary, we can delete stuff if there is a size limit.

Not sure your cost range but vidswap.org, Hudl are a couple that come to mind.

My group uses: https://www.zebraweb.org/. It's an assigning tool and it provides game film exchange. Not sure of the cost.

You Tube offers private and unlisted options for video uploads.  I used it this fall for my games.  I only call HS.  Its free.

For games that I didn't have time to break down and cut clips, I just loaded each quarter on a different upload.  I used the unlisted version since I'm not sure if my crew members from one week to the next are You Tube users or not.  You just e-mail the link to the guys in your crew

You can upload up to 2 gig/15 minutes of video

Over here in the UK we make use of Vimeo a fair bit. Clips can be password-protected if needed.

In Denmark we just changed to Hudl (Hudl.com). It is a tool for coaches, but with some minor tweaking it can be adapted to officaiting purposes. It also works as a great tool for making training tapes and allows for telestrating stuff and so on.

The price is around 600$ for a year

I am sure coaches in your conference have a hudl account.  Just have them give the commish an email account and you can piggy back their account.

You can use private Facebook groups. I have one set up for my crew and have uploaded videos from several sources -- our own game film, youtube, espn, etc.

The private groups are not seen by anyone, search engines included, who isn't given access. It obviously requires a facebook account, but many people have those now.
