DETERMINING THE ADJACENT SIDELINE

I agree that is pretty clear adj sideline for backs is determined by the ball, but for linemen?

Isn't it clear that the adjacent sideline has to be the sideline opposite their "ball side"?  So a restricted lineman (a lineman more than 7 yards from the middle lineman snapper) can only block N/S or to his sideline away from the ball?  I can't see any other way to read the current wording and various clarifications.

7 yards from the SNAPPER?  ? ? Where do you get that from?

I stand corrected (and corrected above), but the rest of the comment doesn't change.  Can't see any way to determine the adjacent sideline other than starting at the ball.

I agree, the lineman outside the 7 yd zone is restricted by position and like any other restricted player he is bound N/S and toward the adjacent sideline determined by which side of the ball (formation) he is on.
