That MUST be what is called.  There's not MUCH advantage gained, just enough to make the catch.  We expect DBs to have hands off, what's wrong with expecting the same from WRs?  Tight call, but good call.

Who said DB's had to "have hands off"?  There must be an obvious impedement.  I don't see it here myself.  There can be contact by either player as long is it doesn't impede one from being able to make a play on the ball.

I believe we too often do not rule OPI because an offensive player did not CREATE separation.  I have seen many cases (i have probably done the same) where we let the offensive player MAINTAIN separation thereby preventing the defensive player from making a play.  There was definitely a slight push in the video.  Does the push rise to the level of creating or maintaining the slight separation required to catch the ball?  I am not saying it does or doesnt in this play.  I am simply saying I dont believe one has to CREATE separation in order for there to be OPI.

If I take a pass on these plays, I always tell the receiver, don't make me judge whether or not you pushed off.  Play the ball and keep your hands off the defender.

OK, sorry, no hands off.  But here, there's just enough impediment to prevent the DB from making a play on the ball.

I think Hank said it well.  I'd be surprised if he got anything less than a "correct call" from his evaluator.  Perhaps that's why that deep wing was in a game of this magnitude.  He's smart enough to see that advantage gained in a bang-bang situation and didn't think twice about it.
