I can imagine the outcry if the NFL decides that they like these "new" officials and decide to hire them full time.

We will keep this discussion professional. These are replacement officials. No more; no less.

Professionally speaking, they are much less. One man's opinion that I'm confident will be deleted.

Possibly not. Your post demonstrates that it's possible to express this opinion without using inflammatory language.

Not as long as you keep your opinion professional and in good taste. The name calling (you know the word I'm referencing) is what will get you whacked.

Im kind of curious what the refstripes community would do if you got one of these calls? I think i'd be pretty terrified, not because of the enormity of the offer, but because of the repercussions. I mean, after '91, how many of the replacement guys ever got another shot at the league? Did they even get a shot at major CFB afterward? Officiating is such a tight-knit group, I would be worried I'd be blacklisted as soon as this thing got resolved and my shot would be forever...well, SHOT.

I don't think you should be so worried about being blacklisted as you should worry about screwing a fellow official who is in a labor dispute.

That's "Gestapo", Sky King.  As long as you don't call someone "A crust discharged from and covering a healing wound"  you will be fine.

But boy is it getting ugleee elsewhere....

Very funny article Mike, thanks.  I really like this quote from Mike Periera, former NFL Head of Officials :

“They’ve tried to say that (the referee, Name omittted by me) , who worked the (Hall of Fame) game, was a BCS official, that he worked in the Big Ten,” Pereira told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. “He didn’t work in the Big Ten. He’s not been a major college official. I don’t think the NFL is going to say that he actually got released midway through the last lingerie football league season as a referee. I don’t think the league is going to put that out.”

 LOL

I guess Periera doesn't mind expressing his loyalties, and isn't expecting another job with the league. ;)

Our state rules interpreter is an alternate.  Not sure how I feel about that.

Our state asst. commissioner and former chair of the NFHS football committee is working the Steelers game, and a Cleveland muckety-muck is on the Browns-Lions game.

Any help identifying some of the people on the list is greatly appreciated. The league is only offering background information on a limited basis.

Thanks,
Ben

Me, too.

I mostly thought it would spread out more.  I think at least 5 guys on that list are in my chapter, and I think at least 4 of those guys worked on the same DIII crew last year.

Balls to Google.

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

I'll take either any day before I take IE.

I think Firefox 14 is blowing up.  I just converted to Chrome and it's much faster!
