2-0 with 15:00 left in the first quarter?

I saw a screen-grab for the Arkansas St. vs North Texas game and the title for this thread is what was shown.  How in the world is that possible?

The best guess I have involves a catch by B in their EZ, a forward fumble beyond the GL, then the ball goes OOB.  Forward fumble rule in play.  The problem with this one is, shouldn't the clock start (according to 3-3-2-a) once that ball cross the GL?

Anyone have a better explanation of how the thread title could happen?

Was muffed in teh EZ, came barely into field (clock should have wound), returner picked it up and took a knee\\


From the play-by-play
Olen, Zach kickoff 64 yards to the ASU1, Hayes, Rocky return 0 yards to the ASU1, fumble by Hayes, Rocky recovered by ASU TEAM at ASU0, TEAM safety, clock 15:00.

Should have wound as soon as came into field of play after touched by Rocky Hayes

You can have 2-0 with 15:00 in the 1st quarter:

Team A kicks off. B80 catches the kick in his end zone. He runs around in the end zone, never leaving it, before taking a knee. During the run by B80, B40 blocks A90 in the back in the team B end zone.

I didn't mention a penalty because I didn't see one on the description of the play.  But, yes, that's the easy answer.

The L in that game was my H for a number of years and has spent more than a few nights on my living room couch. It looks to me like he saved the crew. Not the first time he's done that... I'm really proud of him!  :bOW

watching a little farther in that clip
at 1:34 - FG from the 26, is that standard in all conferences, or specific to the SunBelt that they have double umpire on a kick like that?

It's just one of the few differences in mechanics we had to adapt to in Australia when we switched from CCA mechanics (which we'd been using for over 20 years, so it was quite a challenge for me to break some old habits) to the IFAF (written by BAFRA) mechanics).  James: when I worked games in Germany (Frankfurt), it seemed that the (German) mechanics manual was a translation of the IFAF/BAFRA mechanics, although my German is not good enough to know if there were any subtle differences.

FWIW, the IFAF/BAFRA mechanics only have SJ moving to the double umpire for a FG/PAT from inside the 5, outside that, SJ stays on their sideline, at the goal line to cover fake FG attempts.

BNE how did you get IFAF mechanics manual?
The mechanics around here in Brasil are a mess... all over the place, everybody doing what and how they feel like

I believe the German mechanics are based on the now outdated BAFRA model - If I remember correctly BAFRA made quite a few changes over the last few years, but Germany has stayed fairly consistent
