Could somebody who knows El Macman forward him my best wishes. His rules knowledge rivals Rom Gilbert's and his insight into the game was among the best here.
Kalle - This is MacDaddy's reply:
Kalle,
Thank you for your kind words. Such words from not only a fellow official, but one of your caliber, is the greatest honor any of us can receive. I'm not sure I deserve them, but I thank you, very sincerely.
I regret that I couldn't always be as tactful and respectful with my comments on Refstripes as you are able to do. A character flaw on my part. I find it truly amazing that someone outside the USA is able to understand the rules and officiating philosophy of American Football as well as those that have been born and bred with it. Please carry on with your excellent and respectful commentary - the next generation of officials need folks like you to guide them.
My time is up. I am thankful for every moment of my 41-year career (14 in FBS). I am even more thankful to have crossed paths - even via electronic media - with so many incredible folks such as you (and TxMike, Diablo, and Rom Gilbert), and have made lifelong friendships with so many great officials and their families.
I wish you the very best in officiating and life.
Your friend always.
