El Macman has retired and asked to have his account deleted. He wanted to make a clean break. We'll miss him, and wish him well.  :thumbup

All the best Bob, I hope you find something to fill the void.

Could somebody who knows El Macman forward him my best wishes. His rules knowledge rivals Rom Gilbert's and his insight into the game was among the best here.

I also offer a sincere thankyou to El Macman for the superb quality of information and ability to convey the history and rationale for many of the calls that we discuss here.  I always looked forward to opening a thread when his name was there as the most recent contributor - His insight and knowledge will be missed.

He might take a peek at the board incognito every now and then.

Kalle -  This is MacDaddy's reply:
Kalle,
Thank you for your kind words. Such words from not only a fellow official, but one of your caliber, is the greatest honor any of us can receive. I'm not sure I deserve them, but I thank you, very sincerely.
I regret that I couldn't always be as tactful and respectful with my comments on Refstripes as you are able to do. A character flaw on my part. I find it truly amazing that someone outside the USA is able to understand the rules and officiating philosophy of American Football as well as those that have been born and bred with it. Please carry on with your excellent and respectful commentary - the next generation of officials need folks like you to guide them.

My time is up. I am thankful for every moment of my 41-year career (14 in FBS). I am even more thankful to have crossed paths - even via electronic media - with so many incredible folks such as you (and TxMike, Diablo, and Rom Gilbert), and have made lifelong friendships with so many great officials and their families.

I wish you the very best in officiating and life.

Your friend always.

Good luck in all you do! Thanks also for all that you have given to TASO over the years.
