The mini pealess is not as loud as the Fox 40 which I have used exclusively for the past 10 yrs.
The mini with pea is almost as loud as the Fox 40 but not as shrill.
The mighty pealess is louder than the Fox 40 but not as shrill.
The hammershark......... don't waste your money,
it's that bad. It is listed on the website as a "First Generation Pealess Retro" whistle in limited supply.
All of the whistles do project the sound away from your face and ears.
I only wish they had a model with the cushioned mouth guard like the Fox 40.
I am going to try the mighty with pea and the mega with pea. Even though the pealess mighty is as loud as the Fox 40, I just don't like the sound it makes. The mini with pea sounds much better to me. I suppose I will use the mighty with pea or the mega with pea this year.
The size of the whistles compared to the Fox 40 Classic:
(All measurements are approximate)
The mini with pea and pealess are about the same overall size of the Fox 40 classic.
They are both 1/4" narrower but the chamber is 1/4" deeper.
The mouthpiece opening is twice as deep but only 3/4 as wide.
The Mighty is virtually the same width as the Fox 40 with a deeper chamber than the mini.
The mouthpiece opening is 1.5 as deep as the Fox 40 and virtually the same width.
I do not know the size of the Mega, but was told by the company that the mega is larger than the mighty.
The hammerhead whistle is made in Korea, while the Fox 40 is made in Canada.
www.bestwhistle.comI recommend buying from ebay as the cost seems to be better there.
