The "geniuses" at the UIL think it is just as easy as having a place with "all these cameras". Even given the fact they could get experienced college, and even NFL, replay officials without even going outside the state...how screwed up will it be having on field guys with zero experience with replay trying to officiate with it? If you want an idea, watch some lower level college games now where they do not typically have replay as game is not televised and see what happens when they have to do a game with it. It is not pretty. The coaches don't know what is reviewable and is not, the officials do not know, and the game delays are ridiculous.
I have a solution that will "improve" the officiating for far less money and far less problems.....let us go to 7 man crews and let's have the Chapters submit 7 man crews for game assignment consideration. The application could list each crew member's experience with 7 man mechanics and could even require they take a 7 man mechanics certification test before being considered.
And in order to get more guys experienced with 7 man mechanics, in reg season and early round playoffs, let's let Chapters use 7 man crews (for the cost of 5) when they choose to do so.
